VB and Valencia playing in last season's FA cup semifinal, this match was the most ill tempered match of last season

This year’s FA Cup and Cup Winners Cup (CWC) draw held at FAM house last night, where the 21 team participating FA Cup will kick off on 11 th February and CWC one day before the FA Cup.

Cup winners cup, season’s most prestigious tournament in cash prize wise, will see only three teams competing namely; Valencia (defending champions), New Radiant (FA Cup Champion and President’s Cup champion) and Victory (Dhivehi League winner).

New Radiant will face rivals Victory in the opening game of CWC where the winner will take a cash prize of MRF65, 000 and the runners up will get MRF35, 000.

For the FA Cup, first division clubs are seeded from quarter final stage and the six first division teams are divided into two groups. Defending champion New Radiant, Victory and Maziya are in group one while VB sports, Valencia and Vyansa are in group two.

The draw is possible to set up another FA cup clash between VB sports and Valencia. Their first meeting played in last season happened to be the most ill tempered match played in the season. A post match brawl ended outside the stadium, facing suspensions to officials and players of both sides.
